It's not uncommon to see great gay and lesbian dramas like "Brokeback Mountain" and Fucking Åmål" (aka "Show Me Love"), but seeing a drama in the neighborhood of being as good as the aforementioned coming from Iran was quite unexpected. Well, it was rather unexpected to see a film about that subject coming from Iran in the first place, good or otherwise. "Crcumstance" was one of my favorite films of last year with a story so strong that it's impossible not to be taken prisoner by it. 2011 turned out to be a fantastic year for Iranian cinema and with films like this one and "A Separation" coming out, Iran is definitely a "film nation" to keep an eye on. (9 out of 10)
